Anti Rangging

Ananya College of Ayurveda

Preamble

In compliance with various statutory guidelines, regulations, and provisions—as well as rulings by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India—Ananya College of Ayurved has constituted the Anti-Ragging Committee and Anti-Ragging Squads to ensure effective implementation of all anti-ragging measures.

As per the guidelines issued by the UGC, the Anti-Ragging Committee is headed by the Head of the Institution and includes representatives from the civil and police administration, local media, NGOs involved in youth activities, faculty, parents, and students (both freshers and seniors), as well as non-teaching staff—ensuring diversity in terms of level and gender.

The committee operates in line with UGC Regulation No. F.1-16/2007(CPP-II) dated 17th June 2009 and any subsequent guidelines from UGC, the Hon’ble Supreme Court/High Court, and the Government of Gujarat.

Anti-Ragging Policy

Ananya College of Ayurved fosters a welcoming environment, where freshers are greeted with warmth and encouragement. The institution upholds a strict zero-tolerance policy toward ragging in any form.

Acts Constituting Ragging Include:

  • Teasing, treating, or handling a student with rudeness.
  • Rowdy or undisciplined behavior causing psychological or physical harm.
  • Forcing a student into actions causing embarrassment or shame.
  • Disrupting academic activities.
  • Financial extortion or forced expenditures.
  • Physical or sexual abuse, including obscene acts.
  • Insulting or abusing via spoken words or online platforms.
  • Actions affecting mental health and self-confidence with intent to show dominance.

Monitoring Mechanism

  • Frequent checks in hostels, buses, canteens, and campus premises.
  • Two Anti-Ragging Squads:
    • Boys Hostel Squad (Minimum 4 male faculty members)
    • Girls Hostel Squad (Minimum 4 female faculty members)
  • At least two meetings biannually.
  • Committee is reconstituted every three years.

Functions of the Committee

  • Collect anti-ragging undertakings at admission.
  • Address students and parents regarding anti-ragging.
  • Communicate awareness to parents yearly.
  • Conduct surprise raids via monitoring cells.
  • Suggest security enhancements.
  • Report incidents promptly to the committee.

Roles and Responsibilities

Chairman

  • Lead meetings and ensure adherence to zero tolerance.
  • Monitor all anti-ragging activities.

Member Secretary

  • Organize meetings and maintain records.
  • Submit reports to the Registrar/Vice Chancellor.
  • Monitor compliance and report issues regularly.

Committee Members

  • Stay vigilant across campus.
  • Educate students about anti-ragging rules.
  • Identify sensitive areas prone to ragging.
  • Prepare detailed reports on any incidents.
  • Liaise with faculty, witnesses, and culprits.
  • Stay involved until the final decision on cases.

Protocol in Case of Ragging Incident

  • Complaint filed with any committee member or chairman.
  • Committee deputes members to verify authenticity.
  • Enquiry initiated and report submitted to Principal.
  • Recommendations for disciplinary action follow.

Penalties

Minor Penalties

  • Oral/written warnings.
  • Fine.
  • One-week suspension.

Major Penalties

  • Fine.
  • Suspension for a month/semester.
  • Barred from exams, T&P, or hostel.
  • Rustication or expulsion.

Administrative Action

Upon verification:

  • FIR filed by the Head or authorized member within 24 hours.
  • Legal actions under relevant penal codes:
    • Abetment, conspiracy, assault, extortion, wrongful restraint, humiliation, etc.
  • Ananya College of Ayurved remains committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive academic environment for all its students. Ragging in any form will be addressed with the utmost seriousness and appropriate disciplinary and legal actions.
